FOR HIRE CARRIERS
‘For hire carriers’ must implement and conduct drug and alcohol testing programs, which must include supervisor training, education for drivers, pre-employment drug testing, conducting random drug testing, post-accident testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to duty testing and follow up testing and including a written drug and alcohol testing policy in compliance with DOT and FMCSA regulations.

Drug Testing For FAA Regulated Employers
Employers regulated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are required to have a drug and alcohol testing program. This includes air carriers and aircraft maintenance and preventive maintenance companies. Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administrations (PHMSA)

Federal Railroad Administration (FRA)

FTA - Federal Transit Administration
Mass transit systems are required to have drug testing programs. Employers who receive financial assistance from the Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and contractors of those employers are obligated by the FTA to establish programs, as outlined in 49 CFR PART 655, aimed at preventing accidents, injuries, and fatalities caused by employees engaged in safety-sensitive roles from misusing alcohol and using prohibited drugs.
